About the Event

If art is seen as a kind of therapy,

solutions could be found to many difficult issues in life.

The globalization of Covid-19 makes human beings face the challenges brought by the context of the normalization of the epidemic. How to seek soul’s tranquility under this state is the topic we need to confront and explore. The estrangement or alienation between people is nothing but normal. Living in a fast-paced city with high population density tends to make people easily caught up in anxiety and many other emotions. If people at this moment feel the need of certain artistic forms which could surpass language and have the power to penetrate into our heart, then music, without any doubts, is one of them. Music therapy for this reason is irreplaceable by any other psychotherapy. The concept of right or wrong (binary opposition) does not exist in the field of emotional healing. It is a matter of balance: how to decide if we have maintained a good balance between body and mind? Each of us needs to know our own emotional state. To experience the music and sound in our city life. Slow the pace, return to ourselves. To this end, we specially invite professional local music teams and societies dedicated in physical and psychological therapies to join hands with 10 Fantasia-A Creative Industries Incubator hence starting this unique journey of arts with brand new immersive experience. Let us feel the music and sound of nature in city: slow the pace, return to ourselves.

The event is divided into the following two parts: Lectures & Dialogues and Musical Experience.

Part One: Lectures & Dialogues

Four honored guests, i.e. Li Bing (Alice) – a music critic and piano instructor, Jia Lei – a professional musical instrument player, Cai Chunzi (Vivian) – a local sound therapist and Dr. Meng Shu – a visual artist are specially invited to conduct dialogues on the spot. Li Bing will introduce how music comes into being, the impacts of music on emotions and the relationship between music and religion; Jia Lei, lead Sheng player of Macao Chinese Orchestra, will introduce the art development of Sheng, the traditional Chinese musical instrument and the musical experience it creates; Cai Chunzi, indigenous yoga teacher in Macao and Ayurvedic sound therapist, will explain what is therapy, how therapy works on people in the modern world, the origin and classification of Himalayan Singing Bowl and how it works on people as well as the way to tell whether we are disturbed by emotions or not, etc.; Dr.Meng Shu will introduce creation experience of Visual Art and Art as Therapy.

Part Two: Sound Experience-Voices, the sound of musical instruments and the sound of bowls

The presenter LILI (Li Wanzhen) together with Jia Lei and Cai Chunzi will perform the art of sound jointly, bringing the audience into a state of relaxation and meditation while appreciating two pieces of original Mandala. Audience will be invited to experience the curative effects brought by the vibration and sound of bowls thus feeling sound therapy and emotional control.

The lecture lasts around 100 minutes. During the lecture, audience get to explore the ancient yet new field of music therapy in a relaxing and tranquil atmosphere which enables them to open a dialogue between music and mind & body, enlighten wisdom by music and sound and feel the joy.
